Senior Vice President of Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A, Bob Daly, addresses the recent issue with the floor mats (and unintended acceleration) provided in certain Toyota and Lexus models such as the Hoboken new Toyota Camry, Avalon, Prius, Tacoma, Tundra, Lexus ES 350, IS 250, and IS 350. He explains they’re currently “developing a remedy and will notify owners of these vehicles when its ready to be implemented”. He also suggests some ways in eliminating this issue: first make sure you have the correct floor mats for your vehicle model, then double-check that they’re right side up and secured to factory retaining clips. To ensure there are -no problems, he suggests that you may want to simply pull them out and store them in your trunk for the time being. Check back with your local Toyota dealer for updates.
