Alternative energy sources for vehicles are all the rage these days. While many companies are focusing their energy solely on hybrid technology, Toyota refuses to limit itself in this manner. In fact, in 2012 Toyota has plans to release three plug-in vehicles! Your favorite Toyota dealers in NJ are incredibly excited and are here with all of the details!

WHAT PLUG-IN VEHICLES ARE COMING SOON?

The following is a list of the plug-in vehicles to look forward to from Toyota:

Prius PHEV

RAV4 EV

Scion iQ EV

HOW DOES THE PRIUS PHEV COMPARE TO THE REGULAR PRIUS?

The plug-in hybrid Prius will be capable of 12 miles of all-electric driving! After that point, the Prius PHEV will convert to standard hybrid driving so there is no need to worry about driving out of range. It can be charged in 1.5 hours using a 240V AC or 3 hours using a 120V AC. As for price, it will only be slightly more than the regular Prius, so it remains a conventional and realistic option for drivers.

WHAT SHOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT THE RAV4 EV?

This battery powered vehicle, which was co-developed with Tesla, first made its debut at last year’s LA Auto Show. Though it doesn’t run on the traditional gasoline, it can still accelerate as if it does! It also boasts the same full 74 cubic feet of cargo room as the standard model, even though it must accommodate a battery. The RAV4 EV has a 100-mile range and is a great option!

HOW ABOUT THE SCION iQ EV?

This full-electric model provides an estimated driving range of 50-65 miles travel on its lithium ion battery alone. One especially positive note is that the iQ EV’s center of gravity is actually greatly improved thanks to the under-floor battery pack. These batteries don’t even interfere with the Scion iQ’s 3+1 passenger layout!

For more information on the upcoming plug-in models from Toyota, be sure to stop into Hudson Toyota! While you’re here, ask about our specials on Staten Island Toyota auto parts so you can accessorize your Toyota!

By now, we here in New Jersey should be used to the fact that drivers can face fines between $200 and $1000 if snow or ice flies off a vehicle and causes an accident, damage, or injury. But starting in October of 2010 these laws were made even stricter! Now New Jersey law enforcement can fine drivers for failing to clear snow and ice from their vehicle, even if it doesn’t cause an accident, damage, or injury! Under the new law, fines range from $25 and $75. In these tough times, that’s a good amount of money that could be well spent on something other than driving fines. So save your money and make our roads safer by following these snow clearing tips from your favorite Toyota dealers in NJ!

Start by using a brush or ice scraper to take off snow and ice from the windshield, side mirrors, headlights, wheel wells, and tailpipe.

If the windshield wipers are frozen in place, don’t force them as this may cause damage to the wipers or their motors. Instead, try a de-icing fluid on the windshield. But don’t leave the de-icing fluid in your car over night, it might freeze! And don’t use hot water to remove ice from the glass—it will cause the glass to shatter.

Use a clean, soft-bristled broom to remove debris off the roof. Don’t use anything rougher than a soft broom, as that may scratch the paint.

If the vehicle is tall, like an SUV, van, or truck, try using a step stool to help access the roof.

It is helpful to start the car and put the front and rear defrosters on high while you clean off the exterior. However, you don’t want to start the car too early as you will waste gas. You also don’t want to idle in a closed garage.

And always exercise caution – dress warmly and be careful if your driveway is icy!

If you would like more tips on how to avoid New Jersey’s fines this winter, stop in and see your favorite Toyota dealers in NJ. In addition to offering sound advice for the winter months, Hudson Toyota can help you find your next vehicle among their selection of both new and used cars.

When purchasing a vehicle, most people focus on fulfilling a check list: appearance, interior, seating amount, color, dependability, safety and engine performance.

Although it’s not one of the immediate requirements on the checklist, a lot of people worry about repair fees and part cost. I’m sure that’s a significant reason why many people choose to invest in a Toyota over say, a BMW or Mercedes, aside from their ratings.

Now say you do get into an accident, or accidentally back-up into a cement pole in Walgreen’s parking lot, where do you go to get your Camry or Rav4 repaired? It’s usually the same debate: do you bring it in to an independent repair shop where their car knowledge is balanced among all car makes, and in turn charge lower fees, or bring it into one of the Toyota dealers in NJ who have technicians that specialize in repairing your vehicle but pay larger fees?

If that’s your debate, thing could be much easier for you. You can actually have your NJ Toyota repaired at Hudson Toyota’s Newark Toyota service centers at the same price as one of those independent shops. The friendly technicians have much more intense training and experience in repairing all Toyota models and guarantee thorough, detailed repairs and routine service. And since they do charge similar fees as independent shops, you’re technically getting more for your money at a Hudson’s New Jersey Toyota dealer.

I brought in my Highlander a couple weeks ago to Hudson Toyota to have my alternator changed. I went in with the confidence of knowing whoever works on my car is specially trained to accurately and efficiently fix the problem. The best part, I paid what I would’ve at any regular repair shop. And that’s a good feeling.

Visit your source for quality Hudson Toyota mechanics for your next repair. Hudson Toyota is the Newark Toyota service center that treats its customers with the most respect and gives its customers the best service at the best prices.
