Toyota gives sneak peek at new hybrid and demonstrates its serious eco-friendly mindset

January 1, 2010 Featured, News No Comments

Just a peek! That’s all Toyota is willing to share right now, but a new hybrid model will be completely unveiled at the Detroit auto show soon. With this hybrid, Toyota is proving its continuing commitment to being eco-friendly and Hoboken Toyota parts the curtain on all the green models.

Toyota executives say that starting in two years, they hope to sell “several tens of thousands” of plug-in hybrids around the world. This is definitely good news for the environment, but what does it mean for drivers? Toyota dealers NJ currently sell many hybrid models, the best-known being the Prius.

Prius hybrids and other efficient Toyota models are very affordable. For the best deals on 2011 Toyota NJ buyers should check out end-of-year deals.

As far as range, Toyota’s plug-in will last about 14.5 miles on its lithium-ion battery before the gas engine kicks in. But the impressive news is that the car is expected to get 134 mpg overall.  Toyota is “testing” the new plug-in models by leasing a number of them to businesses and government agencies in 2010.

Although the plug-in version is a strict hybrid, with the gasoline engine for unlimited range, Toyota plans to sell a “short-distance pure electric car” beginning in 2012. For those who will be ready to make the switch to full electric, Toyota dealers NJ will be ready with this model when it goes on the market. I suppose the short-distance electric car would be great for running errands around town and shuttling the kids back and forth to school and practice. The commuter, though, may have to wait for the long-distance electric car, which hasn’t been announced yet.

For buyers planning to pick up the 2011 Toyota NJ dealers have a variety to choose from. I always enjoy checking out the year-end sale even if I’m not in the market for a new car because sometimes I end up being a “personal shopper” for a friend or family member who is putting off buying because they don’t want the hassle of comparing models and prices. The great thing about Hoboken Toyota parts and service is that you don’t need to look any further.
